Suhoor: Suhoor-Pre Dawn Meal carries great blessings and it is one of the best parts of Ramadan. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to say about Suhoor, “Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings upon those who have Suhoor”. On another occasion, the companion of Muhammad ﷺ Anas Ibn Malik narrated that HE ﷺ said, “Eat Suhoor, for in Suhoor there is a blessing. It is a beautiful Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to eat Suhoor. Muhammad ﷺ used to rise before dawn to eat Suhoor meals and encouraged his Ummah (followers) to benefit from the ease Suhoor delivers for supporting the day’s fast. It is Sunnah to delay taking the pre-dawn meal until dusk. During Suhoor there comes a time when Allah accepts the prayers. You will get time to spend with your family. Taking pre-dawn meals with family, the sound of Zikr (remembrance of Allah) around, and the peace in the air give a very soothing feel. Make sure you never skip Suhoor.

Congregational prayers: One of the most prominent Sunnah of Muhammad ﷺ is Salah. Jundab bin Sufyan RA narrated that The Holy Prophet Muhammad said, “Those who endeavour the dawn prayers will come under the protection of Allah”. Remember Salah is one of the most urged pillars of Islam which you can never skip. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to pray the Fajr prayer with his companions at Mosque. Some people skip Salah which is not a good thing they go to their beds right after Suhoor. Prepare yourself and your kids to offer Salah in the Mosque and avoid going back to sleep. If you will set a good example of going to a Mosque it will eventually beseech love and devotion in your kids. Every prayer Fajr, Zuhr, Asar, Maghrib and Isha have their own virtues. Salah is a call from Allah, who is our creator. Salah is the key to success. Allah calls us to success. Remember congregation prayers differentiate a Muslim and non-Muslim. Salah is a compulsory act of worship. It is an obligation of every Muslim young, old, man and woman to pray five times a day at the prescribed time. To understand the importance of Salah at the suggested time we are highlighting a beautiful saying of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Abdullah one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked Him, “Which deed is the dearest to Allah”? He ﷺ replied, “To offer the prayers at their stated fixed times”. Namaz is a beautiful act of worship which builds a strong bond between Allah and His creation. Life is meaningful and dark without offering prayers. Make sure you utilize the month of Ramadan and practice the beautiful habit, a Sunnah and obligations of Namaz. Remember Ramadan comes purposely; it comes to make us exercise all good deeds and avoid all evil deeds So that for the rest of 11 months we must carry on the practice of Ramadan.

Generosity: Remember, one of the virtues of Ramadan is the reward of every single deed raised seventy times. Fasting is the most important part of Ramadan but it is not just fasting that will help you to earn all of the blessings; there are plenty of other ways to get the maximum rewards of Ramadan. One of the best traits of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was His generosity. He ﷺ was generous of all. Even though if He ﷺ had one date and any questioner would come, He ﷺ donated the date. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the most benevolent among the people and His benevolence increased during the Holy Month of Ramadan. It is narrated by Ibn Abbas RA that Allah’s Apostle Muhammad ﷺ was the most generous of all mankind, during Ramadan his generosity would raise even more. The Archangel Gabriel AS used to visit the Holy Prophet every night during Ramadan to revise the Quran with Him. The Messenger of Allah then used to be more generous than the fast wind”.

Kindness and Compassion: Muhammad ﷺ was helpful to others despite the discrimination between believers and non-believers, He ﷺ was equally kind and generous to everyone and He ﷺ was known for His kindness. You can follow the beautiful habit of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and can gain the pleasure of Allah by helping others, and showing kindness and affection to the people around you. Kindness can cost you nothing just nice behaviour and inconsequential expressions of affection can make someone’s day and one word of harshness and an act of hate can ruin someone’s day. Not just it could also impact someone’s mental health. Remember Allah does not like those who are harsh to others”. If you are fasting but your conduct is bad, there is no use in staying hungry. It is just you are fulfilling the true essence of fasting. Kindness can be helping someone cross the street or simply giving a smile. It is in your control how to be a better version of yourself. Follow the beautiful habit of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ “Kindness” your heart will be filled with inner peace and contentment.

Charity: Charity is another significant action you can practice to make the best of Ramadan. You will see most Muslims tend to pay Zakat in the month of Ramadan so that they can earn more rewards. Well if you are exempt from Zakat, you can spend whatever your pocket allows you in the way of Allah in form of charity. Charity is a rewarding act. When you help someone, Allah bestows His blessings on you. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to give Sadaqah and urged His companions to do so. The Holy Quran reminds us that there is a recognized right, for the needy and deprived over our wealth” 70:24-5. Charity is mentioned 13 times in the Holy Quran. One must prevent him or her from becoming proud of their charity.

Completion of The Holy Quran: As we know, The Holy Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and His companions used to recite Quran more compassionately; they would have invested their time in remembering Allah. Prophet’s wife Hazrat Ayesha RA reported, “I don’t know what the Messenger of Allah recited the whole Quran in one night, or did Qiyam until morning or ever fasted an entire month except Ramadan. So make sure you complete the Holy Quran and not just recite the Arabic also read the translation of the Quran in your mother tongue. Reading the Holy Book in your language would help you to understand the message of Allah in a more impactful way. Though Arabic is a beautiful and vast language, you can take the Quran classes to learn the Arabic language, Tajweed and Tafseer of the Quran to understand the true meaning of Allah’s message. If Allah has chosen the Arabic language to communicate with His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ there would be wisdom behind it. Learning Arabic will assist you to read Quran more thoughtfully. Completing the Quran is a noble act; make sure you recite Quran daily. Your aim should not only complete the Quran in fact you must follow the teachings of the Quran to take more advantage of the Holy Scripture.

Iftar: Another significant religious observance of Ramadan is Iftar. Iftar is a post-dawn meal, which is taken right after the call to the Maghrib prayer. Iftar is a gift of Allah to His observance of Fasting, when they are allowed to have food, water everything Halal they want. Iftar is the best time that allows all family members to get together at one table and break their fast together. It evokes a sense of love, unity, empathy and compassion. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ suggested Muslims not delay Iftar. Iftar is the time when Allah has opened the gates of acceptance, so it is advised to make a lot of prayers and ask Allah what you have been longing for. Delaying Iftar impacts the fast and it becomes Makrooh. Sahl Ibn Saad (RA) reported that he heard Muhammad ﷺ saying, “The people will continue to do well as long as they hasten to break the fast”. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to hasten His companion to have Iftar as there was no reward for delaying breaking the fast.

Taraweeh: Taraweeh is a congregational night prayer, offered in every local Mosque. It’s a twenty-cycle voluntary prayer that is reserved only for the nights of Ramadan just like the other two things Suhoor & Iftar which are reserved for fasting. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to lead the night prayers at the Holy Mosque before proceeding with Taraweeh. It was narrated by Abu Huraira RA that The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Whoever prays during the night in Ramadan out of heartfelt faith and seeking its reward from Allah, his all previous sins will be forgiven”. Men gather at Mosques to offer Taraweeh whereas there are separate arrangements for women so that they can also take part in Jama’h.

Supplications for Muslims: Islam is a beautiful religion. Praying for other Muslims brings peace into your life as well. Allah loves those who remember others in their prayers. The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “There is no believing servant who supplicates for his brother behind his back (in his absence) that the Angels do not say: “the same, be for you too”. One who wishes well for others, eventually the goodness of his intention goes back to him. Praying for others softens your heart and lessens ill wills you might have for others.
