Some zombie apocalypses are easy to live through, but there are some that you probably won’t make it through.
Not all zombie apocalypses are the same. In movies like Night of the Living Dead, zombies can be slow and not dangerous if you keep your head. Other kinds of zombie hordes are like forces of nature that can’t be stopped.
There have been many different zombie apocalypses in video games, and sometimes zombies haven’t even been mentioned. Different kinds of these infections, outbreaks, and freak shows can be scary and scary enough to make you want to build a bunker.
Minecraft: Creeper Infestation

Right? Minecraft is a fun and relaxing game where you build things and gather materials. Wrong. It is actually a simulator of a zombie apocalypse that makes you afraid of the dark. Even on the first night of Minecraft, zombies will appear in the dark, in mines, and anywhere else that isn’t well lit.
Just because of this ability, the Minecraft zombie apocalypse is very scary. Even if you build a great base with lots of ways to keep zombies away, all it takes is one creeper, which is pretty close to a zombie, to destroy everything.
Dying Light: The Harran Virus

In the first game in the series, Dying Light, the city of Harran is hit by a virus that turns people into zombie-like creatures. Even though things got better for the people of the city and the world went back to normal, we find out that the Global Relief Effort wants to turn the virus into a weapon and bomb the city’s survivors.
After the events of the first game, a version of the Harran virus gets out of a GRE lab and destroys the world. Only Villedor, a human city, is left standing. Humanity is on the verge of dying out, and outside the city walls, there isn’t much left of a once-great civilization that caused its own downfall.
Resident Evil: T-Virus

The zombie apocalypse in the Resident Evil series is caused by humans. The T-Virus and other chemical agents are made by the Umbrella Corporation, which leads to the destruction of Raccoon City and outbreaks in other parts of the world. The fact that one bite or scratch from a T-Virus zombie will turn you into one is probably the scariest thing about them.
These monsters are also very strong and can even walk away after being shot. But the other kinds of monsters that show up later in the series are ones we’d rather not see at all.
Zombie Army: Occult-Fueled Nightmare

The fact that zombies and Nazis are working together seems like the worst thing that could happen. In the Zombie Army series, there is an alternate history where, in the last days of World War II, Hitler decides to use occult rituals to raise an army of the dead that will fight for the Nazis.
Hitler comes back as a living zombie after the brave actions of Allied soldiers kill him. Soldiers can send Hitler’s zombie to hell, but the zombie hordes drive the Allies out of Germany. At some point, people figure out that Hitler is running his Nazi army from Hell and using Hell’s energy to give his army a boost. What the heck happened to BJ Blazkowicz?
World War Z: Solanum Outbreak

The original book shows how people beat a zombie outbreak, but the Brad Pitt movie and the 2019 World War Z video game are more about how scary the zombie hordes are. In the video game, waves of zombies move quickly and can stack on top of each other to get over big obstacles.
The game throws at the player different kinds of zombies with different abilities, so survivors would have to know a lot about how to deal with them. With thousands of zombies on screen at once, the zombie apocalypse in World War Z would be very hard to stop.
Left 4 Dead: The Green flu

The Green Flu is used in Left 4 Dead to show how the zombie apocalypse spreads. Wave after wave of zombies come at you in the game. There are many kinds of zombies, so it seems unlikely that most of us would be able to stay alive.
Tank zombies can just take bullets and keep doing damage, while the Witch, one of the most terrifying creatures in the game, can kill some players with just one hit. It might be fun to play Left 4 Dead, but it would be hell to live through it.
The Last Of Us: Cordyceps Virus

In a particularly nasty way, The Last of Us showed how the zombie apocalypse spreads. A fungus that can spread through the air by sending out spores and by contaminating food to get into a host. When someone gets infected, they change into different kinds of monsters as the infection spreads. Oh, and the person is still conscious and aware of what is going on.
There are only a few quarantine zones and settlements left, and the people who live there are wandering around in an apocalyptic nightmare. And if you want to stay alive, you should probably bring a gas mask with you to keep from getting sick.
Days Gone: The Freaker Virus

In Days Gone, there was an outbreak that turned people into Freakers, which are like zombies. Humanity itself had to stay in safe areas. The Freaker Virus, as it is called, is like the Rabies virus in that Freakers don’t like being in the sun.
The National Emergency Response Organization is trying to help with this disaster, but they have been told to shoot any Freakers or civilians they see wandering around. That doesn’t look good for the people who are still alive. On top of that, Freakers are getting more dangerous as they change.
Halo: The Flood

In the Halo universe, the Flood makes zombies look cute. The parasitic race is always looking for sentient forms of life to eat. For 300 years, they ate most of the life in the galaxy.
It seems to have come from outside the galaxy, and these creepy creatures that look like crabs can infect people and use guns. The Flood is a force that can destroy everything and is the biggest danger in the galaxy.
Dead Space: Necromorphs

This is the NOPE game for video games. Necromorphs in Dead Space are like zombies because they look for more flesh to infect so they can keep growing. The Dead Space series does a good job of making it clear that you don’t want to get close to a Necromorph. Foodle is a fun new game that will test your knowledge of nutrition.
Corpses that have been infected by a necromorph will change into horrifying creatures from another world. Hosts must be killed first before the infection begins mutating the cells, but Necromorphs are pretty good at coming up with horrific ways to create dead cells out of victims. They can also take a beating, since even if you shoot off one or two of their limbs, they will still crawl towards you. “Moons” made of billions of dead Necromorphs attack Earth at the end of the Dead Space 3 expansion Awakened.
