What exercises can you make your newborn do?

Your little one is there in your arms, finally! Weren’t you waiting for this beautiful moment for the past nine months? Now, all you can do is stare in awe and surprise that your little one is so sweet and healthy. But just admiring your creation wouldn’t be enough. You need to take care of your newborn by feeding him or her from time to time as well as by keeping him or her hydrated.  To keep your baby healthy, you also need to make him or her do a few exercises. After all, exercises are extremely essential as it helps strengthen the baby’s muscles. Exercises help in the baby’s motor development. The baby will be less fussy and sleep better.

Exercises for 0 to 6 months old baby

During this phase of your baby’s life, the baby’s legs and hands aren’t really quiet. Making the child do exercises daily will be your opportunity to spend some time with you.

Grip the finger exercise

You can make your baby start this exercise after he or she reaches the 6 months mark. In fact, this exercise involves the baby’s arms, shoulders, and back.

Tummy Time

You’ll notice your baby will spend a lot of time lying on his or her back. So, encourage your baby to develop the muscles of your baby’s shoulders, stomach, back, and neck by making him or her lie down on his or her tummy.

Cycling exercise

This is going to help your little one release gas. In addition to this, this exercise helps in building up the strength of your little one’s abs, hips, knees, and legs. By doing this exercise your baby can enhance his or her flexibility.

Lifting Weights

Make your little one sit in a bouncy or high chair and put a wide range of objects. Ask him or her to see them and pick them up one by one to improve your little one’s hand-eye coordination and grasping power. 

Exercises for 6 to 12 months old baby

In this phase of your baby’s life, he or she can sit up on their own. Some of your babies can crawl. By the time he or she reaches the 11th month, your little one will be able to stand with a little support.  So, here are a few exercises that you can try out for your baby.

  • Toe to Ear Move: This can improve your baby’s leg and calf muscles
  • The wheelbarrow: This can control your baby’s head movement
  • Tug-up baby: This is like the sit-ups of adults. Perfect for your little one’s back and core muscles.
  • Climb a mountain: This is like a game. Blend with your baby’s playtime. This is perfect for strengthening your little one’s leg muscles.

Make your little one do the exercise when he or she is in a good mood. Try not to force your little one to do the exercises. Take it slow. Give him or her time.
